Though it is illegal for pranksters to shout about non-existent fires in a theatre, shrieking after an encounter with an under-seat gum wad is permissible. Shout about what’s on stage instead with today’s deal: for $58, you get one section C ticket to La Clemenza Di Tito at Vancouver Opera (a $110 value, including a facilities fee) at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Founded in 1958, Vancouver Opera entertains theatre-goers with engaging mainstage productions, as well as educational and community programs. The current production of La Clemenza di Tito tells the story of the Roman Emperor Titus, who finds himself in the horns of a moral dilemma when Vitellia, the former Emperor’s daughter, sends her friend to kill him. Composed by Mozart in the last months of his life, this classic opera contains what are considered some of Mozart’s strongest uses of the female voice, as well as the stirring aria Parto, parto, ma tu, ben mio. Seats and 3-D opera glasses are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis.
