The iron-horse whisperers at the Spirit Catcher Train ride whisk voyagers of all ages away on a 13-minute journey through the sylvan surrounds of Stanley Park aboard a covered miniature train. Riders choo-choo through the verdant woodland to follow the story of Princess Klahowya and her animal friends as they race to find Raven to save the sun from the Chief of Darkness. Aboriginal youth in elaborate costumes and trees with a knack for dramatic monologues act out the narrative’s crucial events at various locations along the tracks, and an audio soundtrack narrates the story as the train is in motion. While they ride, visitors can also admire the bevy of First Nations artwork and installations that bedizen the train’s path. Engine excursionists can prepare for their upcoming ride and memorize the train’s path for accurate prejourney daydreams with this video.

Train trekkers can also explore the Klahowya Village, which celebrates First Nations and Métis culture with a plenitude of activities and events, including dance performances, cultural tours, and a storytelling circle. A 40-foot teepee welcomes wee visitors in to partake in Aboriginal crafts with the resident 39-foot artisan, and hungry mouths can nosh on Aboriginal eats provided by Raven’s Landing for an additional cost.
