240 East Cordova Street used to be the address where Vancouver’s police officers, judges, and dead converged. The building, built in 1932, served as the City Coroner’s Court and Morgue until the 1980s and the City Analyst’s Laboratory until 1995. Countless toxicology tests and several high-profile investigations have taken place between the building’s walls, including the Castellani Milkshake Murder and Errol Flynn’s autopsy. Fittingly, given the building’s significance to Vancouver’s criminal-justice history, it is now home to the Vancouver Police Museum and Archives.
Step back in time as the Sins of the City Walking Tours, presented by the Vancouver Police Museum & Archives, take you onto the streets of Vancouver in the 1900s. Bring your walking shoes and be ready to explore the city rain or shine! Three tours: “Vice, Dice, and Opium Pipes”, “Red Light Rendezvous”, and “Soul Food and Shotguns” delve into the medley of communities in Vancouver’s early history. Hear the scandalous stories of characters from the past, walk the streets they walked, and reimagine Vancouver’s seedier history. *Sins of the City Walking Tours are NOT in the museum.
