Pal Studio Theatre 581 Cardero Street, Vancouver, BC V6G 3L3 (2.2 miles)
The plot: Ten members of the Riot Club, an exclusive dining club comprised of the wealthiest students at the University of Oxford, gather together at an old country pub for a termly dinner. As the night wears on, full-scale debauchery, political posturing, and reckless behavior ensue as the members of the club see their power and privilege at the university threatened.
The playwright: British playwright Laura Wade won the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2005 for Colder Than Here and Breathing Corpses. Premiering at the Royal Court Theatre in 2010, Posh, her unabashed look into political elitism run amok, sold out in a record-breaking four days and was nominated as Best New Play at the Evening Standard Awards and Theatregoers’ Choice Awards in 2011.
Film adaption: A big-screen adaptation of the play, The Riot Club, was released in 2014 and directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education).
