The historians at Museum of Vancouver keep visitors in the know with expertly curated exhibits revealing the unforgettable events that shaped the city’s character and help tell its story. Through these narratives, Vancouverites can connect with each other, and Vancouver can connect with the world at large.

Their current feature exhibit, From Rationing to Ravishing displays rare examples of 1940s and 1950s haute couture and Vancouver-made clothing. Complete with more than 80 historic garments and accessories, visitors can gaze upon dresses from designers like Christian Dior, Cristobal Balenciaga, or Ceil Chapman, reportedly one of Marilyn Monroe’s favorites. Other noteworthy pieces of the collection include a suit from Miss Germanny 1955, Lauren Bacall’s shoes, Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac’s dress suit, and a pair of Boeing Vancouver overalls.
