At one time, the sun never set on the British Empire. While those days are long gone, the same spirit of globe-trotting adventure infuses the dishes found on The Ascot’s innovative menu. Crafted by Chef Boyd Simmerling, the menu expands the restaurant’s original England-centric eats with influences from Latin America and Asia. This cross-cultural culinary exchange produces an assortment of seasonal, locally sourced dishes that are as adventurous as they are delicious; on the trim summer menu, guests can select everything from chilled bites of bourbon-cured duck to the “notorious” chorizo squid sauté. An impressive drink list also blends favorites from Merry England with international challengers, with Pimm’s cups and ciders sharing real estate with mojitos, caipirinhas, and sazeracs.
Much like the menu, the dining room’s cheekily anachronistic décor also blends influences from different points in time and space. Here, fancy sparkling chandeliers and dark wood accents meet pockmarked plaster walls and hip paintings, giving the room the comfortable edge of a time-lost New York lounge. This ambiance extends outside, where a heated outdoor patio and beer garden can cause first-time visitors to think they’ve stepped out of a time machine into the 19th century, or accidentally fallen through the laundry chute that leads to Narnia.
