Today’s Groupon: for $49, you get a four-course tasting menu for one at Regional Tasting Lounge in Yaletown (a $98 value).

The menu created by Darryl Crumb, currently competing on Food Network Canada’s Top Chef Canada, unites multiple global flavours and cuisine styles in his gourmand fare. A Groupon-exclusive tasting menu begins with duck pâté’s introduction to the dining room’s green-and-gold interior in the form of foie gras au torchon with roasted hazelnuts and handpicked greens, followed by a second course parade of house-made lobster gnocchi in rosemary cream. Blue-foot chicken in a green curry with egg, cilantro, and lime swaggers onto the hardwood table in a third course, leading up to a finale of lamb confit d’agneau posing in a pool of sherry glaze, green beans, and Israeli couscous. Although the fixed menu may change, all courses, like wife-seeking bachelors, can find fruitful partners with an optional wine pairing from a selection of more than 30 wines served by the glass (available at an additional charge). The resident sommelier tickles palates with international pours and grape-flavoured feathers, as well as local Young & Wyse’s 2008 merlot from Okanagan Valley and Clos du Soleil’s 2008 sauvignon blanc from Similkameen Valley.
